Conversing with Moss
2024

Conversing with Moss is an interactive installation that invites participants to engage with moss, generating a printed symbol or message based on their touch. This printed artifact serves as a memento of their interaction. Each message can be interpreted using a provided cipher, encouraging participants to reflect on their sensory interaction with nature. As an extension of a thesis exploring alternative methods in graphic design, the project emphasizes the role of mystery, worldbuilding, and tactile engagement in creating more profound connections between people and their environment.
The code for this project was built in PureData and uses a Playtronica TouchMe MIDI device as a facilitator for the transmission of electric signals.
Designed collateral typeset in Happy Time at the IKOB by Lucas Le Bihan.
